How MumCircle works
MumCircle is a friendship app for single mums. There is nothing hidden in this app: every feature is listed below, in the order you meet it. There are no locked regions, no invite-only areas, no remotely enabled features, and no content that changes based on who is looking.
1. Create an account
Sign up with your email and first name, or with Google or Apple. You confirm your email address before you can continue. We never post anything anywhere on your behalf.
2. One-off selfie check (camera only)
MumCircle is only for mums aged 18 and over, so we ask for one live selfie. It is checked once by an automated image model to estimate that the person is an adult woman. The photo is processed in memory and is never stored — not in our database, not in files, not in logs. Only a yes/no result is kept on your profile.
The camera is the only source (photo library uploads are deliberately not accepted). If the check cannot confirm an adult mum, the account cannot continue, and you can retry or go back.
3. Build your profile
You add your age range, postcode and country, interests, industry, cultural background, languages, religion (optional), and your favourite ways to meet up (lunch with kids, dinner, picnic, sports, gym partner, movie night, house party).
For children, we only ever collect an age range and gender — no names, no birthdays, no photos.
4. Matching
We suggest other mums using postcode and country, shared interests, kids' age ranges and genders, and shared cultural background, language or values. There is no swiping, no dating, no ranking that you cannot see — the reasons for a match are shown on each suggestion.
5. Circles (communities)
Create or join small local groups. Any member can see the group description, members and events. Circles are visible to signed-in mums; there are no secret groups.
6. Events & RSVP
Create an event with a title, description, real address (searched via Google Places), and a date and time that must be in the future in the event's own time zone. Other mums can join or RSVP. Events are free — MumCircle has no purchases, subscriptions, tipping or in-app currency.
7. Messaging
One-to-one text messaging between mums who have connected. No hidden channels, no disappearing messages, no external chat service. You can report or block, and reported content is reviewed by a human moderator.
Safety and moderation
Mums-only verification, human review of reports, and a strict zero-tolerance child safety policy. See our child safety (CSAE) standards and privacy policy.
For app reviewers
The iOS and Android apps ship the complete app inside the binary — no code is downloaded or executed at runtime, and no feature is toggled on remotely. The app only talks to our own server at mumcircle.org for data.
If the selfie step blocks review on a simulator (no camera), please use the demo account supplied in the App Store Connect review notes; it is a normal account with verification already completed, and it sees exactly the same features as everyone else. You can also request a review account at support@mumcircle.org.
